Helm of a View
Each of two chairs sits on a worm gear driven slew bearing, allowing the user to change the angle of their view in a full 360 degrees. Only the slightest touch of the hand wheel is necessary to incrementally spin in either direction. While the substructure is clear coated stainless steel, the surface of the chairs is made from Ipe, a dense hardwood that will weather to gray over time. Each base is attached to the solid rock knoll with structural anchors. The armrests lift up and out of the way if desired.
